MEEKE WAS THE FASTEST IN THE BEGINNING OF THE RALLY ARGENTINA

ircarg012010Kris Meeke (Peugeot 207) was the winner of the Super Special Stage 1 of the Rally Argentina 2010. This Rally of the Bicentenary began this afternoon in the spectacular street circuit built in the city of Villa Carlos Paz.

The British was the fastest in running the two turns of the 1800 metres circuit located along the promenade of  Carlos Paz. He set a time of 2m. 32s. 8/10 winning over the portuguese  Bruno Magalhaes (Peugeot 207)  by 1s.4. Lots of spectators attended the stage, in spite of the endless rain. They enjoyed the running of the Super 2000, a show which will be repeated next sunday at 4:30 pm as closing of the competition.

The third position went to Guy Wilks (Skoda Fabia), who ended 2s. 2 away from the winner of the sSuper Special. Federico Villagra, driving a Ford Fiesta S2000, ended in the 6th place, at 7s 8 away from the leader but just ahead Miguel Baldoni. The latter is the best representative of the cars participating in the Argentine Rally Championship.

The race will continue tomorrow with the start of the first Stage on the roads of Calamuchita. This will begin at 8:13 am with the Las Bajadas - Villa del Dique stage, then Amboy - Santa Mónica (9:00 am), after that Santa Rosa - San Agustín (9:41 am) and San Agustín - Villa General Belgrano (10:24 am)

In the afternoon, the cars will run again the stages of  Las Bajadas - Villa del Dique (2:57 pm), Amboy - Santa Mónica (3:44 pm) and Santa Rosa - Calamuchita at 4:25 pm.
